Don Shabkie and Selkie Celtic Band

SELKIE CELTIC BAND

Selkies (also known as silkies or selchies) are mythological creatures in Irish and Scottish mythology that can transform themselves from seals to humans. The legend apparently originated in the Orkney Islands, where selkie is simply the Orcadian word for seal.

Selkie Celtic Band is a diverse group of musicians with a most unique and eclectic style. In addition to frequent performances—which consist of playing Celtic music from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton, and other places in the British Isles—this Celtic group adds its own original tunes to the mix. The members are: Davis Horner—guitar, vocals, percussion, tin whistle/ Don Shabkie—piano/Celtic harp/ David Boles—hammered dulcimer, tin whistles/ Christina DeCiantis—violin, vocals.

The members of Selkie Celtic Band wish to thank their friend and executive producer Bob Rankin for his help in the creation of their new CD, The Circle's Edge, and Bob's ongoing help in future Selkie productions.
